On 26th October 2017, JGU hosted it’s International Day Celebration led by the Office of International Affairs and Global Initiatives. The event was hosted with the theme “Engaging in a Pluralistic World” under which Ambassadors of Israel, Vietnam and Bulgaria shared their ideas, and thoughts to provide conclusive, logical & relevant world-class best practices.

The event also showcased the extraordinary participation for the International Community residing at JGU campus in exhibiting their respective Country’s rich culture, traditions and prophesy through Photography presentation, National Costumes, cultural exhibitions, Music / Dance / Folk-culture troupe etc. to name a few.

Jindal Global Law School, India; Bags the 2017 Herbert Smith Freehills Community
Engagement Award –

The Legal Aid Clinic of Jindal Global Law School (JGLS), O.P. Jindal Global University has won the 2017 Herbert Smith Free hills ‘ C o m m u n i t y Engagement Award for Community Investment through Legal Work along with a cash prize of £2,000. The award recognizes the outstanding team of law students at JGLS who worked closely with the community at large to bring sustainable social impact.

Indo-UK Summit Analyses Policy –
Recognising the disconnect between people and the Parliament world over, lawmakers in India and UK underlined the need to restore “respect” and “faith” of people in their elected representatives. These views were expressed at the day-long meeting of the Forum of United Kingdom and Indian Parliamentarians, which was organised by the O.P. Jindal Global University at its campus on Sunday. Shadow leader of the House of Lords, Rt Hon. Baroness Royall of Blaisdon, led the 10-member UK Commonwealth Parliamentary Association delegation. Naveen Jindal, Dr E.M. Sudarsana Natchiappan and Avinash Pande represented the Indian MPs delegation.

JSiE receives award at University of Oxford for work supporting social entrepreneurship
JGU receives award for supporting social entrepreneurship at the SEE Change Recognition Awards 2017 at the University of Oxford. The award highlights the work of the Jindal Centre for Social Innovation & Entrepreneurship (JSiE) in catalysing social impact through innovation challenges, research and early-stage social startup incubation

O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU), in association with World Society of Victimology (WSV) and Indian Society of Victimology (ISV), organized the 15th Asian Postgraduate Course on Victimology, Victim Assistance and Criminal Justice at its university campus in Sonipat from October 23rd – November 4th, 2017.

Over 50 delegates and 40 faculty members from USA, India, Australia, Netherlands, Germany, Bangladesh and Bulgaria are participating in the course, which is being held in India for the first time. The 15th edition of this course is being organized by Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences, a value-based research institute of JGU.
Speaking on the course, Professor Dr. Sanjeev P. Sahni, Principal Director, Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences, said, “The 15th Asian Postgraduate Course on Victimology and Victim Assistance is truly a melting pot of ideas on victim assistance. It will generate ideas and thoughts which are likely to influence victim assistance strategies and policies. I would like to express my gratitude to all those made this high-caliber course a big success.”

JGU hosted four prominent International Judges on campus for a roundtable discussion
on Climate Change.
Among its initiatives to lead international academic engagements on and off campus, The IAGI Office coordinated the hosting of four international judges for a discussion on Climate Change on November 3, 2017. They are Justice Michael. D Wilson, Judge, Supreme Court of Hawaii; Justice Antonio Benjamin, Judge, National High Court of Brazil; Justice Emmanuel Ugarishebuja, President of the East African Court of Justice and Justice Luc Lavrysen, Judge, Constitutional Court of Belgium.

The year 2017 has seen several international internships & clerkship opportunities added to an already impressive range of practical training opportunities that Jindal Global Law School (JGLS) offers to its students. The notable ones added this year included Australia’s leading corporate & IP law firm Mitry Lawyers, and Attorney General’s Department (AGD) of Australia.

2 students have been selected to start their month long internship at the Mitry Lawyer’s offices in Sydney during the summer term break of 2017, while 4 JGLS students will be heading to the AGD’s office in Sydney during the winter term break of 2017-18.

Hawaii State Supreme Court Clerkships – 4 JGLS Students

Students of Jindal Global Law School (JGLS), Sonipat have received opportunities to pursue global legal internships in USA, UK, China, Australia and Abu Dhabi. Students of the law institute of OP Jindal Group have been invited to work in international law firms, NGOs and government agencies besides being given an opportunity to work as judicial clerks with the Supreme Court of Hawaii. According to the JGLS, besides the wide range of practical training opportunities offered by the institute, several notable additions for internship and clerkship abroad have been added.

Prof. (Dr.) C. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, JGU said, “This is a wonderful opportunity for practical learning of global regulatory practice for JGLS students. The international exposure will help provide our students with an in-depth understanding of international laws and justice framework.

9th International Forum on Crime and Criminal Law Hosted in India for the First Time
